The
'Galloway' collection consists of an extensive range of the landscapes
and seascapes of South West Scotland. They capture the
essence of this largely forgotton and somewhat neglected region of Scotland
- an area which was home to such historic names as St Ninian, Bruce and
Douglas - a land of martyrs and pilgrims, war and romance, peace and tranquility.
It is a corner of Scotland whose topography is remarkedly varied and attractive
and which contrasts and compliments the more northern Highlands and Islands.
This lovely and sparsely populated corner of Scotland is carpeted by gently rolling hills, isolated lochs and sites of historical interest - all edged by a shoreline of indented estuaries, sea lochs and rocky headlands. It is thus a part of Scotland which is growing in popularity with visitors who appreciate the opportunity to rest and relax and make the most of the walks, golf, sailing, fishing and other country pursuits offered throughout the year. The prints offered attempt to capture the unique essence of this area, the rapid and ever changing climatic moods which make Galloway so different yet so refreshing to experience. |
